The Right Mindset

The success of your business, either online, offline or both, requires the right mindset from the start to grow your business.

A right mindset doesn’t guarantee success of course, but a wrong mindset will most likely have you knocking on failures door.

So the right mindset is the first item of your foundation that must be formed before a successful business can be constructed.

What is a right mindset?

“Mindset is the way you set your mind to beliefs and behaviors — beliefs about self and your own basic qualities.” ~ Medium.

The best mindset involves YOU working as hard and long as possible to achieve your goals.

A common mistake is thinking that success will be quick, easy and painless.

Most people give up after a few weeks because they don’t see results.

Stay away from the new and improved shiny object, secret ninja trick or push button secret, they don’t work.

Even though those slick sales pages say you can make huge sums of money easily.

Or you can make any business work without having to actually put in any time or effort.

Of course these products are a waste of money and you are setting yourself up for failure from the start.

There are scammers online and in the real world.

They are just waiting patiently for you to come along and are looking for easy riches.

It is imperative to take the time to make a good, solid business plan.

Goals and strategies that are based upon sound business principles.

Sometimes we want something so bad that common logic doesn’t even apply.

If you take a minute and evaluate your buying habits and ask yourself, “have I always bought this way before?”

The right mindset ISN’T buying the latest “shortcut” and hoping for the best.

The best you can expect under those circumstances is that you will be looking for the next shiny object soon.

And that is NOT a plan that is realistic in the business world.

And it is just plain stupid in the internet, network marketing world.

If you don’t have the education about online marketing, no problem.

Successful Entrepreneur

Being a successful entrepreneur can look so easy when you are on the outside looking in. You see a successful entrepreneur and it doesn’t look like they are doing anything special.

Man, talk about living the good life.

It doesn’t look like she’s even working at all. She seems to be enjoying life immensely.

Emma is sitting comfortably in front of her laptop at her favorite coffee shop when I first met her.

She just finished talking on her cell phone and seems to be enjoying the results of that conversation.

Apparently, being a successful entrepreneur is the proverbial “piece of cake” Right?

WRONG!!!

What you are seeing is the tip of the iceberg, what you don’t see was the long and tedious process that consisted of many hours over a long period of time.

Emma is a successful entrepreneur because she worked at her success that you are looking at.

Most likely when she first began the long process of building her successful Internet business, she had:

The right mind set.
Her short and long term goals set.
Done market research.
Completed a customer avatar.

And she probably had a mentor.

These points must be addressed first so that building a successful internet business is possible.

The right mindset needed to start your own online business, even if it’s just to create a part time income to progressively replace your day job income.

The goals of your online business should be to generate enough of both active and passive income to support your desired lifestyle.

Doing the market research means you know who you want to target specifically. Are you going to focus on fitness, money or relationships?

A customer avatar is a fictional profile of someone who would need your product or service.

Be 1 out of a 1000

If you are thinking about starting an online business, or any business for that matter, you’re 1 out of a 1000. Even though there is no guarantee of success under any circumstances.

Even established businesses can fail at new business ideas. Sears and Toys R Us come to mind.

The possibility of failure is very real, but you can improve your chances of success by:

1. Creating a business plan BEFORE you launch your online business.

“If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail!” ~ Benjamin Franklin

Be 1 out of a 1000

Define the steps on getting from point A to point B, include realistic plans for accomplishing each step.

Get SMART. SMART goals are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely.

2. Expect to work very hard and put in the time to accomplish your goals.

Anything worth pursuing will not be easy, if it was, everyone would be doing it.

You understand this because in business, things are not as easy as they appear.

Each step requires proper, previous planning toward your goals.

Success in any business requires a lot of work and time, and you must have patience.

Be 1 out of a 1000.

As you know, sometimes things don’t work out on the first try. To be successful in anything, you have to be willing to keep going until you do succeed.

3. Beware of “get-rich-quick” schemes.

Have you seen the latest slick sales pages that promise you quick and easy ways to become rich?

I have 2 specific email accounts that get hundreds of these types of promotions and offers daily.

It’s mind boggling to me how many people think that there is an easy way to make money online.

There is NOT. Those ways do not exist.

Remember that most of the other 999 people see the “next big thing” as the easy way to riches.

Most are BIZ OPP HOPPERS and will move on within 30 days because the “program didn’t work.”

What really happened is that they were not willing to put in the hard work.

Wrong Mindset

How often have you muttered the phrase “they have the wrong mindset.” This is usually the remark I make about a person with the wrong mindset.

But your mindset is an important one when you’re thinking about starting an online business or service.

A good mindset doesn’t create success right away, but the wrong mindset will certainly limit your results.

Here are some common wrong mindset statements that I eventually realized had to be changed.

1. I can work when I want to.

False! When you first get started, forget about your social life because you’ll be putting in many long hours of work to get your internet business started.

The way you look at things and how you handle situations will make the difference of how your business plays out.

You can get up earlier every morning, or even stay up later after you get home from work.

2. I can get rich quick!

I was guilty of this for sure. But when you stop being a “biz opp hopper” looking for the next game changer.

And start focusing on one business model, you start thinking like an entrepreneur and building a business.

Run away from anyone who tells you about a quick or easy way to get rich quick, they are lying to you.

3. I don’t need a business plan.

If you’re going to build a business, don’t take shortcuts because you need a business plan.

This applies to an online product or service business as well as the traditional brick and mortar business.

If you want to be successful then put in the work, build long term assets and be consistent.

4. Now that you have an internet business, you don’t need a boss.

It it is to be, it is up to me! You are your own boss.

If you don’t believe that you can do this, then do yourself a favor and QUIT right now.

You may not realize this, but you’re in the lead generation business.

Once you start generating leads, you can focus on strengthening those relationships with those people so they can get to know, like and trust you.

Your self belief system is #1.

So if you’re self defeating yourself like this you have to put a stop to it NOW.

When you find yourself saying “I can’t, I hope, I will try, ok I’m going to try that” then STOP yourself right there and correct what you just said.

Once you believe in yourself, no obstacle, person or any setback can stop you.

Wrong Perception

The 99.9% failure rate I mentioned in the last post really isn’t surprising because people have the wrong perception about starting internet businesses.

People have the wrong perception about making money online and think it’s as easy as building a website and driving traffic.

They couldn’t be more wrong.

Running a successful business of any kind requires self-discipline.

People with no business experience will often start an internet business, thinking they’re on the road to success.

Now they can stay up all night, sleep until noon and at the same time make a killing working on a computer.

If you believe the slick sales pages, everyone will now land on your website and hand over money.

Wrong perception, that isn’t going to happen.

No business is run like that, not if they want to stay in business.

If you’re going to build a business then don’t take shortcuts.

Distractions are everywhere!

Have you seen these headlines before?

a brand new program!
an easy way to make money!
a new ninja loophole!

After all, if you want to be successful, then put in the work, build long term assets and be consistent.

Every time you start over or head down a new path you lose all momentum you built up.

Someone who is already successful can walk into anything new and make it work.

As a result, someone who is still trying to gain traction will have a hard time doing the same.

Well established internet marketers have already put in long, tedious hours on their businesses.

For the most part, they’re running successful internet businesses for this reason.

Also, it didn’t happen overnight for them and it won’t happen overnight for you either.

In conclusion, 99.9% of those that try are totally unprepared for the time investment that must be made in order for an internet business to become successful.
