Make sure you offer products that don’t deliver on their promise, so you’ll turn off your audience and lose every bit of trust with them.

And of course, do it every week AT LEAST, so people get tired of your emails!

That’s a great way to get a lot of unsubscribes and make sure people never click your affiliate links.

Because who wants commissions anyways?

Step #5: Consume Information But Never Implement It.

As long as you know something, it’s enough to make you rich. Just consider it and you’ll see results.

This was me when I didn’t take action and just focused on consuming info.

I didn’t make a single commission back then and what’s better than that?

A valuable lesson learned.

Here is a valuable lesson that I learned early on many years ago when I first got started with the idea of an Internet marketing business.

When I first got started with this internet marketing business back in 2010, it wasn’t easy.

I had no clue what I was doing, I had just been laid off from my job of 19 years.

After a few stressful weeks, I was back working again.

But, I was determined to figure out how to make this online business thing work in my spare time.

A valuable lesson about to be learned

After doing some research, I decided to go with affiliate marketing. With that done, I subscribed to as many marketers as I could find.

They all said the same thing: Affiliate marketing is the quickest, easiest way to make money online.

Does this sound familiar?

Well being new to this business, it made sense to me so off I went.

I jumped in without really knowing what I should or shouldn’t be doing and pretty much bought whatever people sent me.

In the beginning, EVERY single program sounded promising and I invested into all of them.

I was spending more each week, running up the credit card balance.

I’d stay up late each night after work and all weekend trying to make this work.

After buying all their secret methods on how to get rich, it made me think.

Here comes an ah-ha moment…

Why can’t I do the same thing and get the same results?

So I started promoting a cheap product and I was rewarded with my first sale.

It was only a few dollars, but I figured it out.

That meant learning how to get more traffic to make more sales.

Let’s recap what I learned so far.

How to get a domain name and use Word Press.
How to build a basic funnel (landing page, sales and thank you pages).
I use Clickfunnels now, but early on, I simply linked the pages together.
How to setup and use an email series on Aweber.

But what I didn’t know was how to…

Get quality leads to my landing page.
Create good original content.
Promote the product overall.
Talk to people and what to say.

Another valuable lesson about to be learned.

Simple math: I was going to need hundreds of sales every month to make job quitting income that would allow me to work from home. 

I was committed to building my business, but I was only making pennies for all the hard work. 

My simple math logic was that if I wanted to make $10k a month, I just needed to sell 500-$20 products  every month. 

Trust me, it was hard enough just to get that first sale!

What if it were possible to sell 5 people a high ticket product and make exactly the same amount. 

Finding 500 new customers every single month compared to just 5 customers a month. 

So I started looking into high ticket affiliate marketing (HTAM), it’s really difficult to know what a good HTAM program looks like.

Purchasing the first one you stumble upon usually isn’t the best idea, which of course I did.

So I bought a program that claimed, “How to start an online business”.

I actually thought to myself. “I’m going to make lots of money and finally quit my job”!

It had GREAT basic training, next came the upsells.

I didn’t hesitate at all, because I wanted to leave my JOB. Out came the credit card.

I invested the money, went through everything, but still ended up confused.

I hit a snag and it completely frustrated me to the point of giving up…again.

Here’s another valuable lesson learned moment.

That snag was because I had no results or credibility of my own.

And to be honest, nobody has that in the beginning.

So instead of continuing this alone, I decided to ask someone for help.

Boy How Things Have Changed

Boy how things have changed. The nations largest less then truckload (LTL) company YRC closed their doors this past August. While not employed by YRC, I myself suffered from bad management practices earlier this year.

“We have identified a reduction in force was necessary due to a change in business needs. Your position with the company will be eliminated.”

My last words weren’t of despair over the fear of losing my job of 12 years, but rather thanking the boss Adam Henry for the opportunity to do better.

Boy how things have changed.

Lifetime jobs have all but disappeared. The kind your grandparents or even your parents had.

My father in law worked for the USPS for 37 years before he retired.
