Choosing a blog topic or niche will be one of the very first steps you need to research before setting up your blog.
With blogging you want to go after something from the four popular niches topics. They are listed below for your convenience.
You want to focus on the niches that have massive amounts of traffic. If there is already massive traffic and some competition, that means that there is money in that niche!

When choosing a blog topic or niche, start with something that you’re passionate about or at least have some interest in, or something that other people are passionate about and are willing to spend money on.
Next, it’s important to be knowledgeable about your niche so you know what you’re talking about on your posts.
When you know what you are talking about, visitors to your website will see you as an expert and someone they can go to for advice.
The advice you will be posting on your blog should be helpful, informative and genuinely useful.

With that being said, you don’t actually have to be a board certified expert in your field.

For example, the make money online niche can be profitable, but if there is a lot of competition.
You must narrow it down to a smaller sub-niche by doing keyword research for your blog.
Once you’re done choosing a blog topic or niche that appears profitable and you have identified the main concerns and problems of that market, you will need to do a bit of keyword research.
The goal is a list of search terms that have high search volume and low competition.
Competition is a good indicator of the market’s profitability, it means there are BUYERS in that niche.
The best place to start is Google’s Keyword Tool.
List out your niche ideas and think about what keywords people would be typing in to Google Search.
Find those words that have to do with problems or solutions in that niche.
For example, if I was making a blog on Marketing and Business, I would type in things like:
• Marketing and Business Ideas
• Marketing and Business Plans
• Introduction to Marketing and Business
• Marketing and Business for Affiliates
• Marketing and Business Benefits
Choosing a blog topic or niche in this manner, you won’t have too worry too much about competition, because you’ve now narrowed your main niche (e.g. marketing and business) down to a sub-niche (e.g. affiliate marketing).
If you look a little deeper you can even find more specific sub-niches of the main niche (e.g. for beginners).
