Tell Me How You Help People.

January 8, 2020 By Sheldon Leave a Comment

If you want to help people, do you purposely avoid mentioning what you do in your business when you meet someone for the first time?

help peolpe

I say this because people often try to sell me a few minutes after the introduction, maybe this has happened to you too?

What if I could teach you a simple way to help people who are interested in your products and want to buy.

And make sure that the people who are not interested in what you have to sell don’t feel sold to.

Would that be of interest to you?

While the idea is simple enough, it does require a slight shift in your thought process and that may be difficult for some.

After talking about the weather, the conversation generally continues with…”What do you do?”

How do you usually answer this seemingly innocent question?

Most people I run across answer with their job description. “I’m a truck driver, a short order cook, I sell used cars” etc.

The best one I ever heard was “I’m a no-load dipshit asshole just counting the days until I can retire.”

Sometimes this is usually the end of any more conversations.

But, when you first meet someone, there is a possibility that they may be a potential customer or they may know a potential customer.

Unfortunately, many fail to discover this because we don’t talk about business, or because we feel uncomfortable about “selling.”

The another response I sometimes hear reminds me of a elevator pitch and I really hate it.

If I ask “what do you do” and get a thirty second sales pitch, I spend the last few seconds looking for an out. I hate being sold to! And if I hate it, I’m sure it’s the same for other people too!

I’ve learned how to invite people to talk about our business in such a way that they do not feel we are trying to sell them something.

It’s really simple, I just talk about how I can help people.

Of course, I have different responses depending on who I am talking with.

  • I help small business owners to attract more customers, improving their bottom line.
  • I’m focused on helping new marketers to become entrepreneurs.

And I finish with “Do you know anyone that might be interested?”

Now if you are a small business owner or a new internet marketer, would you want to know more if I said that?

Of course you would. Some people respond immediately asking for more information indicating that they would like my help.

With no response, then they are not interested.

If they are interested then I can arrange a couple of scenarios:

  • Let me have your card and I’ll call you in the week to arrange a meeting.
  • Here’s my card, Take a look at my website.
  • There’s some free training (in exchange for your email address) that can help you.

You can create your own responses, for example:

I specialize in helping:

  • Describe your target customers.
  • Who you want to do business with.
  • A niche that includes the person you are speaking to.

Another tip is to tailor your response so it is most applicable to the person you are speaking to.

Just get into the habit of asking people what they do first and don’t let a conversation die when they give you their job description.

Get them to talk about what they do and the problems they face in doing it, especially the problems that you can solve.

People love to talk about themselves and they love people who listen. Then they almost always ask, “What do you do?”

Well I focus on how I can help people…

If you just spent a few minutes showing an interest in them and what they do, then told them that you can help solve some of their problems they face, don’t you think they are going to want to know more?

10 Ways To Constantly Be Improving

October 6, 2019 By Sheldon Leave a Comment

10 ways to constantly be improving your life is the satisfaction of knowing that once you think it, you can do it. It starts with the little things.

10 ways to constantly be improving

1.) Be open to change. You will never be able to move forward in life if you are not willing to open your mind and be open to trying new things. If you keep doing what got you here, you will remain stuck.

2.) Work daily towards obtaining your goals. If you just focus on taking one step each day towards your goal, you will eventually get there. Reaching goals isn’t about one big thing or a secret, it’s your daily habits and the little things that help you obtain the goal.

3.) Surround yourself around supportive people. You can’t do epic stuff with mediocre people. Maybe you don’t have the money to hire a mentor, but find like minded people who understand your madness and crazy goals. Find people who support you, push you and want to see you get better.

4.) Find an accountability partner. Finding someone you can bounce ideas back and forth, share your goals and hold each other accountable is extremely important.

10 ways to constantly be improving.

As an entrepreneur no one is going to hold you accountable to do the work except you. For me, if I did it all over again, I would find someone who was trying to build a business too and make friends with them so we can push each other.

5.) Listen to a podcast in the morning. One of my daily rituals is to listen to a podcast episode in the morning. It helps me start the day off right, get inspired and get new ideas.

6.) Keep investing in yourself. Every high level entrepreneur values getting better. That might mean buying a new book, going to events or purchasing a new course so I can continue to get better. As you grow and have the funds, keep investing in yourself.

7.) Read books. My best ideas come from books. When you have the ability to learn from some of the smartest people in the world for less than $20, you should be learning all you can.

8.) Learn to relax. It’s great to grind because grinding is necessary in the early stages of your business.

Take time to step away and clear your mind.

For me that means a walk by myself with an audiobook or sometimes just taking time to read or going to a movie. For you that could be hanging out with friends, grabbing a drink or a hobby. Take time to unplug.

9.) Enjoy the process. Most people beat themselves up all the time and focus on their lack of results. By doing this, they stay stuck and lose momentum to get better.

Remember, you’re not running a race, you’re on a lifelong journey. The more you enjoy what you’re doing, like getting better and appreciate the wins along the way, the faster you will reach success.

Get excited about your first email subscriber, learning a new skill or accomplishing a small task. It will help the process go much faster.

10.) Celebrate your wins. I think it’s important to celebrate small wins so you are excited to keep going.

Learn the language of your market

July 3, 2019 By Sheldon Leave a Comment

Once you have chosen your niche, you will need to learn the language of your market. In every niche, there are insider terms.

learn the language of your market

Think of your favorite hobby, there are terms used in that hobby that an outsider wouldn’t understand.

Do you know what a proof is? The difference between dcam 69 and 70?

An avid coin collector knows those terms.

Anyone who’s going online and typing those terms into Google is clearly an insider, otherwise they wouldn’t know the words to search for.

If you and I start talking to a stranger using specialized online marketing terms, we get weird stares.

It’s the same with the online marketing niche.

If we mention targeted traffic they might think we were talking about red cars on a road who were driving westbound.

And once we started talking in acronyms,  like PPC (pay per click) and CPC (cost per click) we’d have lost him completely.

Whatever niche you’re going to promote affiliate offers in, make sure you learn the language of that market.

So when you’re writing ads you can get the right people to click your ads and exclude all the wrong people.

Here’s another couple of terms often used in the traffic business, qualified traffic and self qualifying.

The people closer to the end of the buying spectrum are more qualified than those at the beginning.

And in fact have self qualified themselves just by getting this far.

They are also going to be the most expensive to target because everyone wants them.

But it’s worth it even if you have to pay two or three times more money to reach these people.

That’s a much better idea then trying to target the unqualified masses and hoping one of them will buy.

So spend some time learning the language of your market so you can lure those closest to the buying end of the spectrum to your products.

Are you a business owner looking to get started online?

Finding the right niche

June 29, 2019 By Sheldon Leave a Comment

Finding the right niche and target market always comes first. Don’t promote a product and then try to find a target audience for it, choose your audience first.

finding the right niche

Let’s talk about my favorite niche, which is affiliate marketing and why I prefer the affiliate marketing niche.

The main reason I chose to sell training to existing and aspiring affiliate marketers is return on investment (ROI).

When you can demonstrate the ROI of the training you are selling to your prospect you can sell expensive programs that pay big commissions.

You might be wondering who in the world would spend that kind of money on a program.

But remember, just because a program sounds expensive to you doesn’t mean it sounds expensive to others.

To someone running a business, high dollar programs that teach them how to make even more money doesn’t sound expensive at all.

They sound like a good investment.

Also, I don’t just sell to these types of marketers, I’m one of them.

I have no problem spending money to get one-on-one coaching, for example.

I rationalize the decision by thinking if I implemented this advice how much extra profit can I make this year.

It’s always a lot more than the investment, so I spend the money.

A typical business might spend $5000 a year on consulting or seminars that helps them take their company to the next level.

Imagine how much money you might have made if you had been the affiliate that got them to buy those programs.

So I’d rather sell an expensive program to 50 customers paying $1,000 each, instead of something costing $100 to 500 customers.

The first option has a lot less headaches than the other, and now you face the same choice.

You can promote a program that pays $1,000 per sale, and make 50k with just 50 customers.

Or you can try to make $50,000 promoting something with just $100 commissions, which means you need to find five hundred customers.

Yes, it is a little harder to find customers who will pay higher prices than those who won’t.

But it’s not proportionately harder.

Most people willing to spend $100 on the course will just as easily spend a thousand dollars.

If the product you promote is valuable enough and is presented in an irresistible way.

Finding the right niche is the key for anyone looking to get started in affiliate marketing.

Finding the right niche can be anything where people are in urgent need or want of your products.

You will want to enter a large busy niche where there is already lots of affiliates selling to people.

Don’t look at competition as a bad thing, it’s a good sign there’s people making money.

Browse the magazine subscription section on Amazon.com or visit Barnes and Noble and see what niches have the most titles represented.

Or just go to clickbank.com and look at the different niches in their categories menu.

Some are tame and slow and some full of products that have high gravity scores which indicates a lot of affiliates are making sales promoting them.

The people within the most profitable niches want or need something to ease their pain, whether it’s emotional, psychological, financial or physical.

The pain is what drives them to go searching online for answers, where you will have strategically placed your blog or page right in front of them.

And the pain is what helps motivate them to take action now and buy, rather than procrastinate.

Remember finding the right niche and target market always comes first.
