Boy How Things Have Changed

December 17, 2023 By Sheldon Leave a Comment

Boy how things have changed. The nations largest less then truckload (LTL) company YRC closed their doors this past August. While not employed by YRC, I myself suffered from bad management practices earlier this year.

“We have identified a reduction in force was necessary due to a change in business needs. Your position with the company will be eliminated.”

My last words weren’t of despair over the fear of losing my job of 12 years, but rather thanking the boss Adam Henry for the opportunity to do better.

Boy how things have changed.

Lifetime jobs have all but disappeared. The kind your grandparents or even your parents had.

You know, the ones where you worked at ONE job for your entire career and retired.

My father in law worked for the USPS for 37 years before he retired.

And the pandemic has affected the way we do business forever, more companies are focusing on work from home and remote jobs.

My neighbors do this, but people with traditional jobs like me are always wondering.

Are we living in the last generation?

Are you working hard, coming home tired every day and still short on payday?

Well if you’re willing to rethink how you work, consider this.

You can take advantage of today’s economy with a side hustle.

What am I talking about?

OK. If you’re someone who is willing to put in the work.

And decide to go all in, then you will actually learn how to earn extra income.

Boy how things have changed.

  • Imagine not having to actually drive to work anymore.
  • And work from the comforts of home.
  • Eventually working just a few hours a week.
  • Working whenever (and wherever) you want to.
  • Imagine making more income in few hours a week.
  • Than you used to make after 50 hours of work.
  • Does this sound far-fetched to you?

That’s normal.

Remember growing up, how your parents and others had all the answers.

Telling you that your life should follow this simple plan.

  • Go to school for 15 to 20 years.

  • Work a job/career for 40 years.

  • Retire comfortably (if you don’t die first.)

Once upon a time, this might have been possible (but not for most people now).

Millions of people work most of their lives for a retirement (and 401k) and settle for that.

There’s is nothing wrong with that, but it seems like a waste of a life.

  • Wouldn’t you rather enjoy life now.
  • Learn how a side hustle can make you money.
  • Enjoy the time and freedom of entrepreneurship.

Still don’t believe this is possible? Then quit reading right now. The truth
is, you have to change your attitude and quit settling.
