If you can avoid these common affiliate mistakes, you’ll have a much better chance of increasing your affiliate commissions.
Affiliate Marketing is one of the best ways to make money from home and there are hundreds of affiliate programs to choose from.
Anyone with a laptop, tablet or even a smartphone can get access to some affiliate programs and the opportunity to make some money online.
Usually most affiliate programs are free while some have a very low cost to join.
Typically, they are easy to get started with and they pay out commissions on a regular basis.
Everyday, more people are looking into new ways to start a home based business.
There are many common affiliate mistakes that people make that hurts their business efforts.
Avoiding some of these common affiliate mistakes should increase your sales and affiliate commissions.
Here are the most common affiliate mistakes made by affiliate marketers.
- Not doing any research before you start promoting a program.
I was guilty of this when I first started, I joined my first affiliate program simply because it paid a real high commission rate.
Of course, the program wasn’t relevant to anything I was promoting at the time, and I found it difficult to convince people to purchase the product.
Why would they want it if it does not help them solve a problem their having right now?
- Not using Social Media correctly.
Many affiliates join Facebook groups and simply post their affiliate link, that’s not how you educate, entice and gain that email address.
Posting in 20 different groups with nothing but affiliate links to one product or a bunch of different products can very easily be considered spam.
Nobody is going to be interested in your health supplements, CBD oils or whatever your offer is when you massively spam links.
- Not personalizing your own ad copy.
There’s nothing worse than seeing the exact same type of offer in all of those MMO FB Groups from ten different marketers.
How much perceived value will your offer(s) have when the reader is seeing it for the tenth time?
Tweak your ad so it speaks to your target audience.
Personalize it so it doesn’t even seem like an ad anymore.
- Not having your own domain and hosting.
Even Grandma can tell a free hosted site when she sees one.
It’s one of those common affiliate mistakes that makes it obvious that you haven’t made any money online.
It blatantly screams, I don’t know what I’m doing.
When you can’t even spend a few dollars to setup your business properly with your own domain and hosting, why would anyone purchase from you?
In fact, it will definitely help you in the long run.
- Not capturing an email address and sending them directly to the affiliate offer.
When you spend time and effort to get someone to click on one of your affiliate links then they leave click away without buying, what have you gained? Nothing!
You just wasted your time and effort to get that one click-through.
Set up an opt-in page to capture that email address first, then to the site.
That way if they don’t buy right away, you can follow up with them later.
This is how you can build the like, know and trust factor with just an email.
Now that you know some of the common affiliate mistakes to avoid…
It’s time to become the super affiliate marketer you always knew you could be!
